Photographer Gary Leonard documents the magical and mundane on the streets of Los Angeles. Born and raised in Encino, CA, he’s been photographing the City of Angels for 50 years. Part Diane Arbus, part Weegee, and a lot of fisheye lens-work, Leonard first came to fame with his iconic images of the 1970’s and 80’s L.A. punk scene. Defining the genre and capturing the bands, the people, and life around his hometown, Leonard continues documenting the constant flux of the city. His books include, Make the Music Go Bang, a collaboration with one-time music critic Don Snowden (1997), Take My Picture Gary Leonard (1998) and Symphony in Steel: Walt Disney Concert Hall Goes Up (2003), with his well-worn Nikon part of the fabric and history of Los Angeles.
