A new group exhibition featuring 32 artists working at Santa Monica Studios 3026 will open February 22 at the Airport Arts Center in Santa Monica.
Titled “Under One Roof,” the exhibition is curated by art critic and curator Peter Frank and will be presented in the Propeller Gallery at Santa Monica Studios 3026, located at 3026 Airport Avenue. An opening reception is scheduled for Sunday, February 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. The exhibition runs through May 3 and is free to the public.
The show includes artists whose studios are based at the complex, working across sculpture, painting, textile, photography, ceramics, printmaking, and drawing. The exhibition coincides with nearly 25 years of continuous artistic activity at Studios 3026, a city-owned arts facility.
Santa Monica Studios 3026 is part of the City of Santa Monica’s Airport Arts Center campus. The site occupies former airplane hangars that were once part of the historic Douglas Aircraft plant, where the DC-3 aircraft was developed. Since the mid-20th century, the buildings have also been used as artist studios.
Today, the campus includes 60 studio spaces, a public gallery and a theater, making it the largest concentration of artist studios in Santa Monica. In 2025, following a competitive selection process, the city appointed Community Arts Resources to manage programming at Studios 3026.
In an essay written for the exhibition catalogue, Frank describes the artists as independent practitioners working within a shared setting, noting that such studio clusters are common in cities but are less often formally established and maintained over time.
Participating artists, listed alphabetically, are: Melinda Smith Altshuler, M Susan Broussard, Barbara Carrasco, Gregg Chadwick, Claudia Concha, Lola Del Fresno, Alexandra Dillon, Wendy Edlen, Nina Girvetz, Elizabeth Gorcey, Deborah Lynn Irmas, Sara Issakharian, Sheila Karbassian, Annette Miae Kim, Susie McKay Krieser, Sally Lamb, Makala Lee, Luigia Martelloni, Patrizia Martiradonna, Crystal Michaelson, Mobina Nouri, Margaret Oakley, Sabine Pearlman, Elham Sagharchi, Gwen Samuels, Daniela Schweitzer, Pamela Simon, Doni Silver Simons, Julie Weiss, Joan Wulf, Rebecca Youssef and Leila Youssefi.

The Airport Arts Center is operated by the City of Santa Monica’s Cultural Affairs Division. Community Arts Resources, a Los Angeles–based nonprofit founded in 1989, works with municipalities and cultural organizations to produce public arts programming.
