Founded in 2019, the fair takes place in guest rooms and public spaces of the historic Hollywood hotel, adopting a format modeled on the hotel-based fairs that gained popularity in the 1990s. Organizers say the approach is intended to create a more informal setting than conventional convention-center art fairs.
The 2026 edition will include galleries from cities including Tokyo, Chicago, Buenos Aires, Milan, Seoul, Miami, London, Dallas, New York and Los Angeles. More than 20 galleries will participate in the fair for the first time. Among them are New York Life Gallery (New York), Feia (Los Angeles) and SOM GALLERY (Tokyo). Returning exhibitors include Brigitte Mulholland (Paris), Corbett vs. Dempsey (Chicago) and Uffner & Liu (New York), among others.
According to the organizers, the mix of new and returning participants is intended to balance emerging programs with more established galleries. This year’s edition places particular emphasis on first-time exhibitors.
Felix was established by Dean Valentine, Mills Morán and Al Morán. Since its inception, it has been held annually in Los Angeles in late February, coinciding with a broader week of art events across the city.
The 2026 fair will also introduce The Felix Podcast, hosted by Valentine and Los Angeles–based journalist and critic Janelle Zara. The podcast will feature conversations with figures from the art world, including philanthropist Jarl Mohn and artists Frances Stark and Joey Terrill, with a focus on contemporary art and its relationship to Los Angeles.
Felix has positioned itself as an alternative to larger-scale fairs, emphasizing a hotel-based presentation format and a concentration of galleries within a single property. Organizers describe the fair as designed to foster closer interaction among dealers, artists and collectors.
