This exhibition, Out of the Ashes, began as a direct fire relief effort, but quickly evolved into an opportunity for artists to share personal stories and responses to this unprecedented moment in our collective experience. Curated by Craig Krull and Douglas Marshall, the exhibition runs from February 19 to March 1. It includes work by over thirty L.A. artists, interpretive statements from each of them, and an artist talk moderated by Hannah Sloan on February 22, with an opening reception to follow.
Participating artists include Natalia Berglund, Elaine Carhartt, Kevin Cooley, Michael Deyermond, Brad Eberhard, Carol Erb, Liz Espinoza, Malado Francine, Michael Freitas Wood, James Griffith, Salomón Huerta, Beanie Kaman, Carol Kauffman, John Knuth, Augustine Kofie, Aline Mare, Kim McCarty, Kelly McDonald, Ana Morales, Gary Palmer, Laura Parker, Cleon Peterson, Phranc, Mary Anna Pomonis, Mark Posey, Rebeca Puga, Milo Reice, Nancy Romero, Delbar Shahbaz, Matthew Shallenberger, Joshua Simpson, Amy Smith, Coleen Sterritt, William Stranger, Gay Summer Rick, Jane Szabo, Camilla Taylor, Molly Tierney, Elizabeth Tremante, Dani Tull, Philip Vaughan, Yohannes Yamassee, and Eric Zammitt.
