The organizers of Frieze Los Angeles have announced the galleries expected to participate in the event’s sixth iteration, to take place February 20–23, 2025, at the Santa Monica Airport.
One hundred and one galleries from over twenty countries will exhibit works in a structure designed by WHY, the international architectural firm founded by Kulapat Yantrasast. The figure represents a modest uptick from last year, which saw ninety-five galleries participate.
In addition to the international megagalleries that will be showing—including Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, Pace Gallery, and David Zwirner—forty-five of the participating galleries are based in the Los Angeles area, about the same percentage as last year. Among these are Blum, David Kordansky Gallery, and Roberts Projects, which will be exhibiting alongside the abovementioned heavy hitters in the main Galleries section; and Make Room, Nonaka-Hill, and Ochi, which are among the dozen participants in the Focus section, devoted to solo shows presented by emerging galleries and curated for the second year in a row by Essence Harden. Fourteen galleries are debuting at the fair for the first time, including Minneapolis’s Dreamsong and the nominally New York–based Superposition, both appearing in the Focus section, while newcomers such as Chicago’s moniquemeloche; Southern Guild, of Los Angeles and Cape Town; and the London- and New York–based Timothy Taylor will help round out the Galleries section.
